The Centre of Expertise for Transformative Mobilities at Wageningen University & Research is a hub for rethinking travel, tourism, and migration in a changing world. We bring together expertise from across WUR to advance climate-responsible, environmentally sustainable, socially just, and community-led mobility futures, connecting research, education, and societal impact through collaboration with students, policymakers, NGOs, and industry.
Our work examines how mobilities intersect with climate change, social justice and labour, cultural heritage and identity, and biodiversity conservation. Across these interconnected areas, we study how movement reshapes ecosystems, livelihoods, power relations, and belonging — and how mobilities can be transformed to support equitable, resilient, and environmentally responsible futures.
